2024 Toyota Land Cruiser LC250 price, Fuel Economy, Top speed, 0-60 mph, towing capacity

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser LC250 overview:

After a long wait of three years, Toyota has made a grand comeback by reintroducing the Land Cruiser in the USA. However, unlike the LC300 model available elsewhere, this is an all-new LC250 model specifically designed for the US market, at least for now. The LC250 is a more compact version of its larger counterpart, and Toyota has equipped it with US-specific powertrains to ensure competitive pricing.

The anticipated price for the LC250 is expected to be in the mid $50,000 range, a crucial point for Toyota as it faces strong competition from stalwarts like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler, which also start around the same price range.

Just like its bigger sibling, the Land Cruiser LC300, and its luxurious counterpart, the Lexus GX, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser LC250 shares the same TNGA-F platform. This platform will also serve as the foundation for the upcoming Hilux and Fortuner models. Toyota has taken inspiration from the classic Land Cruiser design and combined it with boxy, old-school aesthetics similar to the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.

The vehicle’s trims are named after its heritage, with the base trim named ‘1958’, mid-spec called ‘Land Cruiser,’ and the top-spec designated as ‘First Edition.’ The front fascia is square and rectangular, blending retro elements with modern trends. Only the ‘1958’ and ‘First Edition’ trims feature round headlights, while the mid-spec ‘Land Cruiser’ trim boasts triple ice-cube LED headlights. Instead of the Toyota logo, the vehicle proudly displays ‘TOYOTA’ lettering, adding to its vintage charm. The base model also incorporates a lot of unpainted plastics, which makes replacements more affordable in case of off-road damages. However, unlike the Land Rover Defender, none of the LC250 trims offer steel wheels.

Talking about off-road capabilities, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser LC250 boasts impressive angles, including a 31-degree approach angle, 22-degree departure angle, 25-degree break-over angle, and 8.7 inches of ground clearance (equivalent to 221 mm in the metric system). Inside, the interiors are designed to be functional, featuring an industrial and robust look. While it is a step below the LC300, it still offers comfort and practicality.

The trims have varying upholstery options, with the ‘1958’ getting cloth upholstery, ‘Land Cruiser’ getting faux leather, and the ‘First Edition’ receiving real leather upholstery. The dashboard and door pads feature soft-touch plastics at the top and a rubberized finish at the bottom. The infotainment system also varies, with the ‘1958’ having an 8-inch system, and the top two trims equipped with a larger 12.3-inch system. The LC250 also comes with an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite and Multi-Terrain Select off-road modes. The top trims also include a Multi-Terrain Monitor.

Under the hood, the LC250 is powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, a deviation from the V6 turbo diesel engine in the LC300. This hybrid engine generates 326 bhp of power and 630 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Interestingly, this gearbox includes a 48 bhp electric motor integrated to reduce turbo lag. The LC250 is equipped with a full-time 4WD system, including a 2-speed transfer case (high and low), making it a capable off-road performer.
